Reality check!
We're all still living in this digital age pandemic, but the reality is that our personal, career, and professional development are areas that have not been placed on hold. In fact, this pandemic has manifested so many skills and qualities that we may have never known existed within us. Many have used time during the pandemic to truly rest, relax, learn new skills, exercise, get healthy, try out new hobbies, pay off debt, purchase new cars/homes, start or expand families (fur babies included), start businesses, and so much more. And I’m here for ALL OF IT!
On the career front, some of us have even started new jobs, started new positions, and even taken on new leadership roles in this virtual and hybrid environment. For most who have worked from home and have become ultra comfortable with working remotely in our PJ’s and sweats (no shame here), it’s never a bad idea to present ourselves with a fresh look as we enter new physical and virtual workplace environments. It more important now than ever to make sure that as we live life in society with new normals that we have the visible presence to match our respective growth in this reformed digital space. Whether you’re a business owner, content creator, or working professional, professional headshots are the perfect way to re-present yourself to society with a fresh face.
But first, what is a headshot?
A headshot is a closeup photograph of yourself that has you head in the main frame. A primary goal of a headshot is to simplistically capture the essence of someone’s face for personal, professional, or business reasons. Headshots are commonly used in press or media kits, in public presentations, on websites, on social media profiles, on business cards, and so much more. They are also very important and useful assets to have in your digital toolkit whether you work a 9-5 job, you are an entrepreneur, or you just want to have nice professional portraits of yourself to pass along to others. Do you have a knack for fashion? Want to show off your cool specs and earrings and your bright and welcoming smile? Professional headshots are the perfect way to showcase some of the great visible qualities and characteristics about yourself that you love in a clear, clean, and professional manner. Did I mention that these headshots can also be used as profile images for personal and professional accounts like Zoom or LinkedIn? In my own personal experience, I’ve received much positive feedback about how nice my standby photo is during virtual meetings and my video camera is off. My profile photo is a great way for others to match a face to a name and make your presence known before you even turn on your video camera.
2. You can use your professional headshots on your website, emails, social media sites, and for press kits for speaking engagements, public talks, and printed/digital media.
Have you ever applied to speak on a panel or at a conference or submitted an application where a picture was required? I hate to break it to you, but the image resolution offers with a phone selfie just will not cut it. Oftentimes the resolution of images offered from a mobile device is very low quality and when you expand that on a presenting screen, your HD presentation may be very pixelated when presented at a larger scale. For this reason, I highly recommend that you hire a professional photographer, like myself, who can provide you with high resolution digital images that will maintain their original quality and integrity no matter how much the image expands.
